Spain did very well at flopping and taking advantage of the referees, doing it just enough in the fourth quarter to overcome a small deficit to the France team. Spain now advances to the semifinals of the tournament, having a good chance to emerge from the London Olympics with at least a bronze medal.
NBA star Marc Gasol led the way for Spain, scoring 14 points on the day. Juan Carlos Navarro finished with 11 points of his own and it ended up being enough to hold off a French team led by Tony Parker and Nicolas Batum. Spain now advances to play Russia in the semifinals with a chance to qualify for the gold medal game later at the Olympics.
On the other side of the bracket, Brazil plays Argentina in one of the quarterfinal games and in the other one it is United States vs. Australia.
