The Dwight Howard saga continues.
Another day, another team. This time it's the Atlanta Hawks, who have apparently leapfrogged teams like the Brooklyn Nets, L.A. Lakers, Houston Rockets, and Dallas Mavericks to become the favorites to land Dwight Howard. The Hawks entered the Howard sweepstakes late after clearing out major cap space by trading away All-Star Joe Johnson and his albatross contract.

Now according to one source, the Hawks maybe more likely to land Howard than all those other teams mentioned above. Part of the reason is more basketball than it is financial. Howard has a lot of close friends on the Hawks including Josh Smith, who many have said is his best friend since their youth AAU basketball days. In a summer where Howard has become a public villain, going to a team where he is surrounded by friends might just be what he needs.
However, when trying to figure out how the Hawks could acquire Howard, it becomes difficult to see it via trade. The Hawks would have to outright sign him when he becomes a free-agent as they don't have the assets to give the Magic other than Josh Smith and Al Horford.
