Chris Paul trade rumors could take center stage in the NBA as the LA Clippers' point guard becomes the focal point of teams looking for help at the position. Up to this point, Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic have controlled much of the attention, but now that he has been traded to the LA Lakers, a shift could take place in the NBA trade rumors.
Alex Kennedy of HOOPSWORLD just pointed out today that, "we're going to hear" Paul trade rumors pop up now. He did note that Paul is already in a large market and seems committed to the Los Angeles Clippers, but it is definitely a fact that he turned down the opportunity to sign an extension with the team this offseason.
There are plenty of teams that could use an elite point guard and it will certainly become enticing to send the Clippers a few offers as the 2012-13 NBA season gets started. His plan could simply be to become a free agent to test the waters, but it could also boil down to making sure that the Clippers are going to stay competitive before he commits long-term to the idea.
A team like the New York Knicks would certainly love to get Paul, but maybe the Dallas Mavericks could have interest as well. If Howard heads into free agency, it's entirely possible that Paul would want to join him. Now the debate about how good Blake Griffin really is will begin to consumer fans of the game.
Do you think that Chris Paul trade rumors will lead to an eventual deal? Do the LA Clippers actually have enough talent to compete in a tougher Western Conference?
