All along, many NBA experts and analyst had predicted Dwight Howard would end up in Brooklyn.
The Nets had been the frontrunners for the Howard sweepstakes from the start but just couldn't find a way to get a deal done with the now new Orlando Magic GM Rob Hennigan. Eventually, the Magic decided to move Howard in a four team blockbuster trade to the Los Angeles Lakers and only received Arron Afflalo, multiple draft picks and a couple spare parts in exchange for the All-Star center.
Well, now reports are surfacing that the Brooklyn Nets had a much better offer on the table for the Orlando Magic. The Nets were offering Brook Lopez, Kris Humphries at 1 year, 9.6 million, Marshon Brooks and four unprotected first round draft picks in exchange for Dwight Howard, Jason Richardson, Chris Duhon and Earl Clark.
If those reports are true then the Magic certainly missed out on a considerably better offer in which they would have two young building blocks in Brook Lopez, Marshon Brooks as well as a boatload of first round draft picks. Instead, they are left to build their team around Arron Afflalo.
