If you follow Chad Johnson's Twitter, then you might have noticed that the former Miami Dolphins wide receiver has been uncharacteristically silent, after the domestic abuse incident that took place between him and new wife Evelyn Lozada, one of the stars of Basketball Wives on VH1. According to police reports, Johnson head butted Lozada, giving her an injury that required several stitches after a dispute about a receipt for condoms.
Johnson was released on bail, and released as well from the Miami Dolphins roster. Apparently, the Dolphins don't want to take a chance on a player getting such bad press. Yesterday, Chad Johnson released a statement that said, in part "I would like to apologize to everyone for the recent events that have occurred. I would like to wish Evelyn well and will never say anything bad about her because I truly love her to death."
Chad Johnson's Twitter feed has been silent since the four tweets that he sent on August 11th. It isn't difficult to imagine that the NFL star might be embarrassed about his actions, and avoiding direct messages and tweets from fans. However, just a few hours ago, Johnson did retweet a Black Sports Online article, and followed up with his own tweet a few hours later saying that he hadn't had to "tread water in a long time" and thanking his family and fans for "keeping me afloat".
Chad Johnson's feed had four tweets on August 11th posted, a marked difference from the 10th when he sent 31 tweets. Just minutes ago (at the time of this writing), Johnson retweeted a message that told him to keep his head up, and even commented on the picture included with the tweet. So, will Johnson be tweeting with his usual frequency anytime soon? You'll have to follow him on Twitter to find out.
