In the latest NBA rumors of 2012, the Orlando Magic are going to need to do some serious searching in order to find a good replacement for the loss of Dwight Howard. A recent report takes a look at some of the possibilities for the Magic Kingdom now that they have a big void to fill.
With the latest D-Howard rumors discussing what the Lakers are doing to ensure the big man stays in Los Angeles, there's another team that went the opposite direction. The Orlando Magic have lost one of the NBA's biggest superstars, literally and figuratively. So now they need to do some serious rebuilding in Orlando.
An article from Bleacher Report talks about some of the potential bigs that the Magic could bring in to help out. Among the names mentioned are Kyle O' Quinn (14th draft pick of 2012 second round), Gustavo Ayon, Tyler Zeller, Tiago Splitter, DeMarcus Cousins and Al Jefferson. Several of those guys would offer the size the Magic are sorely in need of. A select few would also bring some talent as well. For example, Cousins and Jefferson are proven vets with star power who could really help out. The others have yet to prove themselves or become household names. Still, you never know when one of those is a surprise pickup from out of nowhere.
Nonetheless, nobody is expecting the Orlando Magic to be a playoff contender this coming season. Nobody expects they'll be in the Finals in the next 3-5 years, unless they pull off a huge deal, or draft the next big thing in next year's NBA draft, if that "next big thing" is there. Magic fans will have a bit of a wait until they see the sort of talents that Shaq and D-Howard brought their way. However, it could still be fun to watch how they climb back from obscurity in the wake of the Howard trade to the Lakers.
