Some recent WWE Summerslam 2012 spoilers may have given credence to those making predictions of the winner for the Triple Threat match this Sunday. A recent article examines what could be the plan by WWE handing into this huge main event on Sunday.
In a previous Summerslam predictions article, this match for the WWE championship was evaluated, considering the whole CM Punk vs. The Rock setup. However, it seems that may play out a bit differently than some are expecting. In fact, Wrestle Zone has pointed out some reports about how WWE may be planning to move the WWE title around.
The website states in their report today:
"As we previously reported, WWE has been considering a John Cena title win at SummerSlam, which would then setup Cena vs Rock II at the Royal Rumble, and then the Rock would go on to face CM Punk at WrestleMania 29. Again, this is a tentative plan as nothing has been finalized at this point."
This particular scenario seems a bit strange, as some were expecting John Cena vs. The Rock II at Wrestlemania 29. Also, it sort of makes Rock's claim that he will once again become WWE champion seem harder to understand. Maybe the promise was made simply to keep fans invested as he promotes his new "G.I. Joe" movie? Or will Rock defeat Cena for the title at the Rumble, with Punk winning the actual Rumble match? It just doesn't add up based on how things are being discussed.
Nonetheless, Sunday has the potential for some great matches and moments, if they're done right. There's plenty of fans ready to bury WWE once again if there's any mistakes or missteps on this Pay-Per-View. However, there could be some great matches from the likes of Brock Lesnar, Triple H, Chris Jericho, Dolph Ziggler, and others.
