There's been several WWE SummerSlam 2012 results which have happened tonight with controversy attached. Both of these matches have involved the major championships including the WWE title. So did CM Punk, John Cena or Big Show win the Triple Threat?
The latest WWE SummerSlam results saw a huge match end, and then restart, with controversy. It was for the WWE Championship with John Cena, CM Punk, and Big Show battling one another in the Triple Threat match. While it looked like Big Show would dominate his two opponents, tossing them around the ring, it ended up with CM Punk putting an Anaconda Vice submission hold on Show. John Cena rushed over and added his own STF submission hold. Under the pressure of both men's submission moves, Big Show finally tapped out.
With that happening, it looked like a tie, since the referee couldn't decide who the winner was. However, Raw's General Manager AJ Lee came down to the ring to announce that the match would be restarted. Immediately after the bell ring, Big Show chokeslammed both guys to the mat at once, nearly managing to pin each of them for the win.
Show still factored into the finish, but not as the winner. Instead, he was ultimately pinned by CM Punk, who stole the victory away from John Cena. It seemed the crowd was still supportive of the champion, as he celebrated post-match with them. John Cena seemed a bit disgusted over the way his opponent win, which will probably lead to these two fighting at the next PPV.
Another thing to keep in mind is Punk's current reign. It was mentioned that he will surpass previous WWE title reigns of greats like Yokozuna, JBL, and tonight's opponent, John Cena. It was also mentioned that Cena has been in a drought of almost a full year since he's held the title (293 days). Is this all leading up to Punk vs. Rock at the Royal Rumble, and then Cena vs. Rock at WrestleMania 29? Could become very interesting in the next several months of 2012 leading into 2013!
