The 2012 LLWS brackets head into Day 5 of the competition on Monday (August 20). In the first four days of the competition, two teams on each side have been eliminated, leaving just 12 that can possibly win the 2012 Little League World Series championship.
The eliminated teams in the United States bracket are Nebraska (Midwest) and Oregon (Northwest), while the eliminated teams in the International bracket are Uganda (MEA) and Germany (Europe). With several elimination games during Day 5, the field is going to get even smaller.
The Day 5 brackets reveal that five games will take place during the day, beginning at 12 p.m. ET with a consolation game between Europe and Midwest. Think of it like a bonus game between two teams already eliminated from the main brackets. It's great that all of those kids get one more chance to enjoy the 2012 LLWS.
Game 17 resumes bracket play with Caribbean vs. Canada at 2 p.m. ET in the International bracket. The second game (Game 19) in that bracket is Mexico vs. Asia-Pacific taking place at 6 p.m. ET. The first game is at ESPN, the second one is on ESPN2 and all teams involved have 1-1 records so far.
Over in the United States bracket, New Jersey (Mid-Atlantic) vs. California (West) plays game 18 at 4 p.m. ET on ESPN. Game 20, which is Connecticut (New England) vs. Indiana (Great Lakes), is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET on ESPN2. All of these teams are 1-1, so consider every game on Monday (August 20) to be an elimination game.
Which games in the 2012 LLWS brackets for Monday are you excited to watch? Which of these teams do you think has the best chance to emerge from the loser's bracket to contend again?
