The third game of the NFL preseason is a dress rehearsal for the starters for most NFL teams, and the game between the New York Giants and Chicago
Bears will be no different. Here is what you should see as the Bears battle the Giants on Friday night, Aug. 24.
Chicago Bears
The reunion between Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall will get a nice look tonight. The two created magic when they played in Denver, but the Broncos shipped Cutler off and Marshall played with inferior quarterbacks after that. Now, the two are back together and Chicago expects big things. They should play three quarters together tonight, so they have a chance to reignite their explosive offense.
When talking about the Bears, the defense is always the big area. However, with Brian Urlacher injured, this unit has a lot to prove. Julius Peppers is trying to establish himself as a new leader on this defense and the front line is pretty good. The secondary has a lot of work to do, and Eli Manning will push them hard in this big NFL preseason game.
New York Giants
The Giants will have their starters on the field of most of the first three quarters, which will give Eli Manning a chance to reconnect with his 2011 star receiver Victor Cruz. So far, in the first two game of the NFL preseason, Manning has completed six passes to Cruz for 79 yards, so playing long into the Chicago game might produce some really nice numbers.
However, Mario Manningham's replacement has not been found. Ramses Barden has not won over coaches yet and this might be his last game to do so, otherwise Domenik Hixon, Rueben Randle and Jarrel Jernigan have the chance to impress tonight.
In the running game, David Wilson will get a nice long look tonight as Ahmad Bradshaw suffered a hand contusion in Week 2 of the NFL preseason.
