NBA Rumors – Sacramento Kings Moving to Virginia?

This time last year the Sacramento Kings were looking to move the franchise to Southern California, but the NBA team stayed put and had another disappointing year. The latest rumors on the team now have Virginia Beach as a possible destination and news of the move could come in the next week.

The Hampton Roads Business Journal reported the possible move and actually listed a time frame, but recent comments from Kings owners said they have not contacted Virginia Beach.

The Kings have had little success in Northern California, both on or off the court and the team being moved is likely at some point in the near future. Anaheim and Seattle would seem better situations for the franchise, but NBA owners are willing to give smaller markets the opportunity and teams like Memphis and Oklahoma City have flourished.

Another possibility is the team leaking false information to get a better deal elsewhere, but one thing is clear, ownership in Sacramento wants out-of-town and it will likely happen before the start of the 2013 season.
