The latest NBA Lakers rumors of 2012 continue to bring forth gossip regarding Dwight Howard. The former Orlando Magic center has now joined forces with the Los Angeles Lakers, including Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash. However, some were wondering if he not only left behind Orlando, but also his Twitter account.
According to Sports World Report, Howard has been M.I.A. from the popular microblogging site since April 20th. However, he recently resurfaced with several new tweets just a few days ago. One of them includes a pic and reads:
"Hey wooooorllldd. Ya boy is back and I'm here in beautiful lala land. La wassssuppp."
The website goes on to report that Howard's new tweet had over 2,000 retweets and was favorited at least 700 times. There's no word on the demographics of those stats, although it could be a lot of fans living in Los Angeles. Howard is looking to contribute in a mighty way to his new team, and hoping to win his first NBA championship there. He missed the 2012 summer Olympics in London due to a back injury he's been doing rehab for. Reportedly, he's continuing those efforts in his new home city.
As for his Twitter hiatus, that's to be expected when you are trying to get yourself a new team. It's very likely that he was getting plenty of bashing on the site, and the last thing he wanted to do was put himself in a worst position to get the right deal. It could have been advised by his agent to stay off the site, or Howard just decided he didn't want to deal with negative criticism from fans. Of course, he probably getting at least a few angry tweets from fans in Brooklyn, Houston, Atlanta, and other teams that would have preferred he started at center for their team in 2012-13.
