New NBA rumors suggest that Ricky Rubio of the Minnesota Timberwolves is not going to be ready by the start of the 2012-13 regular season. According to the Pioneer Press, Rubio "is progressing well" in his recovery, but that he isn't coming along fast enough to return for the fall camp.
President David Kahn has even gone as far as stating that it is "highly unlikely" that Rubio is going to be ready to play the first game of the regular season. It has also been suggested that he would miss all of November as well as some time in the month of December.
Rubio is out while he recovers from ACL surgery and while he may be ahead of schedule on some timetables, the Timberwolves can't get him back on the court soon enough. He is an integral part of that team and a reason why fans are holding out hope that the team is about to turn a corner. Not having him for maybe the first two months of the regular season may doom the playoff aspirations of the franchise.
While Rubio is out, Luke Ridnour will once again step in as the starting point guard. If the team hopes to improve upon its terrible record of 26-40 a year ago, though, they will need a lot from Ridnour and the rest of the starting five.
Should these NBA rumors be frustrating to fans of the Minnesota Timberwolves? If Ricky Rubio makes it back quickly, does this team have enough talent to make the 2013 NBA Playoffs?
