New York Knicks rumors from this week have Jason Kidd trying to become the next Steve Nash. According to Sports Illustrated, Kidd is ready to take on the role that Nash had when Amare Stoudemire played for the Phoenix Suns.
Nash is probably one of the main reasons that Stoudemire became a star so quickly and possibly a reason that Stoudemire ended up drawing the attention of New York when he became a free agent. Now Kidd sees himself as the answer that the Knicks have been looking for and maybe the veteran point guard can figure out what is needed.
Stoudemire became a superstar for the Knicks before the team went out and traded for Carmelo Anthony. Though the pair has shown flashes of brilliance as a duo on the court, the reality is that they don't have much to show for a year and a half of work in New York. Point guards have come and gone, with Mike Bibby, Baron Davis and Iman Shumpert unable to make the duo better.
If nothing else, Knicks fans have to be pleased that Kidd is confident that he can succeed at getting the team to play together in the 2012-13 NBA season. He will have a lot of pressure placed upon his shoulders, especially after the team lost Jeremy Lin to free agency. He better get his legal problems behind him and come into camp in shape though, because it is going to be a grueling year.
What do you think about these New York Knicks rumors? Do you think that Jason Kidd has what it takes to get the best out of Amare Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony?
