The latest NBA rumors 2012 indicate that Miami Heat center Eddie Curry could be on the move to the Brooklyn Nets. Curry is currently a free agent with Miami, and according to reports is going to be working out with the Nets this coming week.
The latest report comes from ESPN.com, which indicates Wednesday will be the day Curry works out with the Nets. It's also been reported that another free agent center, Hilton Armstrong, will also be working out with the team as well.
Basically, neither of these guys are Dwight Howard, who for a long time appeared destined to play for Brooklyn. However, he's now in Los Angeles, as the story goes. Still, there is a possibility he winds up playing for the Nets after this season, although the Lakers will do everything in their power to keep him happy and on their squad.
As for Eddie Curry, he's previously been a member of the Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks, and most recently rode the bench during the Heat's NBA Finals victory. Curry played in just 14 games during last season, but had a stellar year with the Knicks back in 2006-07 with nearly 20 points a game and 7rebounds a game. After the 2007-08 season he's played just 24 regular season games, never averaging more than 3 points per contest. He's had some previous issues with being in shape, as well as a medical issue called "hypertrophic cardiomyopathy," which took the lives of both Reggie Lewis and Hank Gathers. However, Curry has continued on after receiving medical clearance.
The Nets will look to see if he might reclaim some of the form he had back when his numbers surged with the Knicks. It's clear Brooklyn is looking for a big season, having recently acquired Gerald Wallace and Joe Johnson to form a playoff-contender team. They also realize they'll need something to help them at the center position, but then against most teams will against Dwight Howard and the Lakers.
