Evander Kane is an interesting young player as he has terrific offensive skills, but has not lived up to expectations through his first three NHL seasons. Recent reports on the winger has contract talks between himself and the Winnipeg Jets going nowhere and that has led to some recent trade speculations.
Bleacher Report writer Jake Ware has suggested a trade that would send the 21-year-old to Vancouver for Nicklas Jensen, Chris Tanev, and a future first round draft choice. The Canucks are an aging offense unit and could use some youth and this deal could help the team finally win a Stanley Cup title.
Kane has increased his scoring totals in each year, going from 26 points his rookie season to 57 last year, including 30 goals. But after being selected with the fourth overall pick in 2009, 60+ points per season were the expectations. And though his numbers are increasing, a deal to a team with more weapons could finally have the youngster realize his full potential.
The Jets would receive two quality players that would help with depth and a draft pick they could use to add a young talented player. Winnipeg would ultimately like to resign the youngster and build a winning NHL team around him, but if talks continue to stall, look for a deal and the Canucks would be wise to make a strong offer.
