Michael Phelps can't help you swim like him, and you probably can't party like him, but thanks to his new deal with Sol Republic, you can listen to music the same way he does. The celebrated Olympian with a gross ton of gold medals in his closet partnered with the brand to create distinctive red, white and blue headphones complete with stripes and stars. They retail for $149.99, and they are available for pre-order on eBay.
It's surprising that the headphones don't bear his name. Instead, they bear the less exciting name Tracks HD Anthem headphones. It doesn't matter. The end result is the same. Fans of the athlete get to swap their hard-earned cash for headphones that their favorite swimmer endorses. Sol Republic makes money. Phelps makes money. Best of all, part of the proceeds from sale of the headphones will go toward the super swimmer's foundation, which does bear his name. It's a win-win-win.
Inspiration for the headphones came from Michael Phelps himself. He was seen listening to music via the Sol Republic gear so much during the Olympics that he was reportedly instructed to obscure the logo. Well, he doesn't have to hide the logo anymore, and he will no doubt reap the rewards of yet another endorsement deal. After becoming the most decorated Olympian of all time, he is certain to be swimming in offers.
