The NFL season started on Wednesday and for most fantasy football owners their preparation for the upcoming games has begun. For those who had a bad draft or need some help due to injuries, here is a look at the top players still available on most waiver-wires and how they can help this weekend.
Coby Fleener has a chemistry with Indianapolis Colts rookie quarterback Andrew Luck as they both played at Stanford; and with the Colts having little depth at receiver, this young tight end could see plenty of action this season. Fleener is not flashy, but his good hands and experience with Luck could see the youngster have a big game this week against Chicago.
Evan Royster is listed as the starting running back for the Washington Redskins and for owners who need some depth this week, taking the youngster is a gamble worth taking. Last year Royster averaged 5.9 yards per carry. This off-season he worked hard on blitz pickups and catching the ball out of the backfield, both of which could get the former Penn St. star plenty of playing time this season and make him one of the top sleepers for the year.
The biggest concern for fantasy football owners is having an empty spot on their roster and watching the weekly NFL injury report is a must. These are just a couple of players that could help this week, but look for injuries as fantasy football owners can pickup a gem of a player late in the week.
