Charlotte had a terrible season last year as the Bobcats won just 7 games and the team dropped their last 23. The front office added Michael Kidd-Gilchrist in the draft, but this team lacks NBA talent and could use a veteran scorer to help the youngsters on the team.
The latest rumor from the Charlotte Observer suggests that veteran forward Tracy McGrady could get a tryout with the team and that signing the 33-year-old is actually a good idea. The former first round draft pick of Toronto has shown over the past two seasons that he is again capable on the court, this after a couple of years of missing several games with injuries.
Last year with Atlanta, McGrady averaged 5 points and three rebounds in just 16 minutes of action. With the Bobcats, he could expect 20+ minutes per night and that would help the team with offense, something the Bobcats have lacked the past two seasons.
While Charlotte is not an NBA Playoff contender this season, rebuilding and adding a veteran like McGrady to help is a good short-term solution and a good way for the young players to learn the ropes of the league.
