Brian Waters' days as a New England Patriots offensive lineman seem over as the veteran has not reported to the team and his number has already been issued to another player. Waters has spent 13 years in the NFL, but he and the Patriots are at an odds over money and he is looking to play elsewhere this season.
Waters has played just one year with new England and after the team asked him to take a salary cut this off-season, trouble began and the veteran never reported to training camp. A 6 time Pro Bowler and twice All Pro, Waters is looking to move closer to his Texas home and that has led to the latest rumor of the Houston Texans as a possible destination.
The Texans could use some depth at guard and though trading for a 35-year-old is risky, New England has a way with stock piling draft picks and could likely land a good middle round selection for the veteran.
The team's front office is being hush-hush on the situation, but a trade or outright release is likely coming in the next few weeks and the Patriots should at least look at getting something in return and a good pick from next year's NFL Draft is the best option for the Patriots.
