The NFL uses the draft to stockpile young talent and while most these young men won't make an immediate impact, there are always a few that surprise even the best football experts.
Here is a look at the top rookies that fantasy football owners can grab off the waiver-wire this week. These players can help an owner win not only this week, but perhaps all season long.
Alshon Jeffery entered the league as one of the top rookies from April's draft, but he was overlooked by most fantasy football owners coming into the season. In week 1, Jeffery had 80 yards receiving with a touchdown and with Brandon Marshall on the Bears team. This youngster won't have the pressure to shine and that can actually help him and fantasy football owners willing to take a chance on the young wide receiver.
Kickers are often an afterthought in fantasy football and rookies rarely get a mention, but Minnesota Vikings Blair Walsh had a huge game in leading his team to a victory on Sunday. The young kicker from Georgia scored 17 points, which included a 55-yard field goal. For owners needing some points, this youngster is worth the gamble.
For every Robert Griffin and Doug Martin, there's another youngster that is out trying to prove he belongs and these two players proved they belong with their play in week 1 of the 2012 NFL season.
