The LA Lakers are looking to shake things up and started with the firing of Mike Brown as coach. Now the team has offensive guru Mike D'Antoni running the show and while the team has the players to run his run and gun offense, a few players on the roster could be traded soon to add the talent the new coach wants in Los Angeles.
The latest rumor from Josh Martin, NBA lead writer for Bleacher Report suggests the team looks north of the border and sends veteran forward Pau Gasol to Toronto for point guard Jose Calderon and forward Andrea Bargnani.
Toronto is looking for a star to rebuild around and while Gasol is now over 30, he is better than any player on the team's current roster and would generate a buzz among the fans. The LA Lakers in return get a backup point guard, something the team now has a real need for and a 26-year-old seven footer that can run the floor and shoot from the outside.
Both teams would improve with this trade as the LA Lakers get the pieces they need to run their new offense and contend for an NBA title and Toronto would get a 20 point, 10 rebound player that could help with leadership and the rebuilding of the young Raptor's squad.
