It wasn't so long ago that Kaka would have been seen as a major star in world football, but it's fair to say that his reputation and standing in the game isn't what it once was. The Brazilian playmaker is still only 30 years old and has been linked with a move to the Premier League in the past.
The star's career seems to be at a bit of crossroads after failing down the pecking order at Real Madrid. This is something that has been quite a turnaround, because it was only in 2009 that Madrid parted with £56 million to sign the player from AC Milan.
However, he has now had to admit that he will be looking at the possibility of leaving the club in January and will be in search of his next challenge. This has obviously caused the rumors to start flying around with reported interest from LA Galaxy.
Of course, the MLS club will be looking for a new midfielder after David Beckham made the decision to move on to a new challenge of his own. Therefore, plenty of names have been mentioned on who Galaxy might target, probably, the strongest of these rumors is Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard.
However, Lampard's hopes may have been dashed by advice that Beckham has handed to the club that he is leaving; it appears that Beckham sees the Brazilian as the ideal man to replace him. Kaka himself has admitted in the past that he would love to play in the MLS at some stage in his career, but has said he knows nothing of the current interest.
The player may have to compromise on his international career if he does make the switch, but he surely knew that he was being phased out anyway. Brazil has a lot of new young talent at the moment, and he will know his chance of staring at the Brazil 2014 World Cup is rather slim. In any case, he is probably most concerned about playing football again, and LA Galaxy may offer him that opportunity.
