Two of the more disappointing teams in the NBA this season are the Philadelphia 76ers and LA Lakers, and despite moves during the off-season to upgrade their rosters, injuries and chemistry issues have hurt both teams, and changes could be coming with the trade deadline approaching.
The latest rumor has Pau Gasol of the LA Lakers headed to the 76ers in a three-team trade package. Gasol and Darius Morris would head to Philly; Spencer Hawes, Jason Richardson, and Kwame Brown would move to Phoenix; and the LA Lakers would acquire Marcin Gortat and Michael Beasley.
All these players need a change of scenery for various different reasons, and the deal would make each roster a bit stronger. The best news, however, is each team would rid themselves of a player that has expressed interest in playing elsewhere, and that could help each team on and off the court.
With next month's NBA trade deadline getting closer, these are just three teams that need to make changes, and while a deal of this magnitude doesn't happen often, it has become more feasible with the salary cap rules, and it could help all three franchises for several years.
