The Memphis Grizzlies are going to active during the NBA trade deadline.
There were reports that the Grizzlies were looking to move Rudy Gay but so far that hasn't happened yet, which has led many to believe that Zach Randolph may be the guy that the Grizzlies decide to move. Similar to Gay, Randolph also has a very large contract that the Grizzlies would very much like to move.
According to one source, the Houston Rockets are a potential trade partner for the Grizzlies. The Rockets covet Randolph and would like to add him to their core of Jeremy Lin, James Harden and Omer Asik. Randolph would immediately give them some much needed scoring in the frontcourt.
The only problem would be matching salaries for Randolph as the Rockets don't have many big name contracts outside of the previously three players mentioned before. A third team would need to be involved to possibly make it work. However, it does make some sense as to why the Rockets would do this deal, while it just a salary dump for the Grizzlies.
