Ed Reed was on the fringe of retirement a year ago but now the Baltimore Ravens star says he has another couple years in his body. After what happened in the playoffs could the Denver Broncos fix their secondary by adding him?

Champ Bailey age and Ravens heartbreak push Broncos offseason
Though blame continues to fall on the shoulders of Peyton Manning for throw a costly interception in overtime, anyone who watched the instant classic between Denver and the Baltimore Ravens knows that play never would've happened if the defense hadn't given up an inexcusable Hail Mary bomb with seconds left in the 4th quarter. That was the cap on a day where a supposedly good Broncos defense gave up their fifth touchdown of the day. No unit deserves more blame than the secondary. Aside from the playoff loss, Denver struggled a lot during the season against the pass. Their starting corners ranked in the top ten for yards allowed per catch. Their Pro Bowl Champ Bailey didn't look the same all year, perhaps speaking to his age at 34. Rumors have already started about the team going after a corner in the draft, but it wasn't a corner who allowed that bomb to unfold. That falls on the safeties. Is that an area that could see changes too?
San Francisco 49ers and Colin Kaepernick are wary of Reed
How ironic would it become if Denver used a Raven to fix a problem the same team exposed? Ed Reed is one of the best in football and is not only in line for a championship ring but a Hall of Fame bust as well. The San Francisco 49ers and quarterback Colin Kaepernick know there is nobody better at taking the ball away and scoring. Those plays win big games. It is why 49er fans have looked nervous at times because nobody has really talked about the safety save for when he commented on his plans to return in 2013. While the New England Patriots were hinted at as a place he would like to play, there is no reason to think Denver doesn't have a shot at him. No one thought they could land Manning during the last offseason and they did. Reed is that quarterback of the secondary they missed this year. Even at age 34 he is wily and dangerous. If the Broncos are all in on Manning then getting a proven veteran at a high price isn't a problem.
The Baltimore Ravens can't think about the future of Ed Reed with the biggest game of his career imminent. Still the Denver Broncos know his future there isn't set. There isn't harm in making plans to woo him when free agency starts.
