Several big name NBA players are in the last year of their contract and likely playing just to be showcased before the trade deadline later this season. The Phoenix Suns have Alex Len now at center, meaning Marcin Gortat will probably be traded before long as the team looks to rebuild with younger talent.
Gortat broke onto the scene after a trade from Orlando. Since that time the 6'11" Polish star has averaged over eleven points and nine rebounds and become a force defensively, but the franchise is looking to move in a different direction and several teams from around the league will have interest in the big man.
One team that needs help at center and would likely part with a young player and a draft pick is Boston. The Celtics don't have a big presence in the paint and have struggled to score points down low in the preseason. A move to land a true NBA center would help this franchise get back on their feet and become a force in the Eastern Conference.
Gortat is still young enough to play several more years at a high level and General Manager Danny Ainge could then concentrate the rebuilding efforts to the back court. The Celtics have already made several moves over the last few months, so expecting one more is not out of the question as they look to get more talent on the floor and create a buzz with their fans heading into the 2014 season.
